Products that could withstand a tsunami...probably

Remember that time it rained on my wedding day? I sure do! Those of you who think it "wasn't that bad", we actually got rained out during our photos/video. By the time we made it back inside for the reception, my hair looked like a drowned rat strapped to the top of my head...BUT the silver lining is that this really put the staying power of my makeup to the test. And I'm happy to report that it was a huge success in that regard!

So for anyone who plans to do their own makeup on their wedding day, or maybe just in general wants their makeup to stay in place (without having to tattoo it on) - this one's for you.

Here is a list of some of the products I used that contributed to the longevity of my rainy wedding day makeup:

FaceAtelier Foundation

It's well known that I airbrush foundation on my clients whenever possible, but there are two instances when I do not. 1. When the skin is better suited to standard liquid foundation and 2. When I don't feel like doing makeup with my eyes closed. So ya, when I do my own makeup I tend to keep my eyes open and use FaceAtelier liquid foundation. This foundation goes on and stays on, with or without a setting spray (trust me, I've tested it both ways). It's quickly become the only foundation I'll use on myself when I decide to sport a full face of makeup.

Too Faced - Better Than Sex Mascara (Waterproof)

I was so hesitant to try this mascara because the non-waterproof version, if I'm being way too honest, just did not live up to its name. Ya catch my drift? People went nuts for it but I just didn't get it, and with my eyes being sensitive it irritated me much the same as many other brands I had tried. But I gave the waterproof formulation a shot and by the grace of all that is good, it worked. No black streaks for this bride **insert salsa dancing emoji here**.

Ben Nye Final Seal

This is the pièce de résistance in my opinion. I don't let people walk away from me or my makeup station without loading them in this. Seriously - I will chase you down the street if I forget to spray you. It is so long lasting that the bottle actually recommends a specific makeup remover to use at the end of the day because it's alcohol based. Of course, the special remover isn't vital but it may take a bit of elbow grease to get your makeup to budge when you finally want it to.

I won't lie though - this product is a little tougher to find and way more expensive than what you'd typically pick up at Sephora. #worthit

But hey, the proof is in the puddin' so here are some photos from the wedding day that backup my arguments. Note: my hair before and after I drank whiskey...errr I mean danced...in the rain.
