I'm not sure that there is a better way to describe this wedding, than by saying it was picture perfect. The barn, the cornfield, the chandelier hanging in the trees, the pond; the list could go on. But my favourite was the bride, Holly.
Ok, so I may be more than a little biased because the bride doubles as my best friend. But she was amazing in every sense imaginable on her wedding day.
1. She was unwavering - Despite the challenges that were thrown at her, and trust me we weren't lacking in the challenge department that morning, she remained solid. She kept her cool and trusted her girls to keep her moving forward.
2. She was calm and appreciative - I kid you not, the DIY projects for this wedding continued up until the moment the bridal party stepped into the limo and headed to the venue. All 8 bridesmaids played a vital role and I don't believe we could have pulled it off if we were short a single one of them. But Holly never showed signs of panic, she never told us to hurry up or be more or less helpful than we were being, and she never for a second let us feel that our efforts were going unnoticed by her.
3. She was stunning - Her beautiful gown (that she made ENTIRELY herself), her birdcage veil, and her grandmother's necklace. There was not a single thing that anyone in their right mind would change. Watching her walk down the aisle toward her now-husband, it was everything I could do not to fall apart.
On August 22nd I was Holly's makeup artist, maid-of-honour, and best friend. After 20 years of having this girl by my side, I wouldn't have traded a single one of those roles for anything in the world.
