What better way to start blogging, than to bash a high-end product? Go big or go home I guess. This is a classic tale of cheating on the one who makes you happy (in this case, Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette) in an attempt of finding something better...and then having to crawl back and ask for forgiveness.
I have heard nothing but great things about the Ambient Lighting Powder by Hourglass. Finally my girl-crush, Samantha of Batalash (see the video here), spoke highly of it and I decided to take the leap. It was a little on the pricey side, but a product I could use all over my face as a subtle highlight I had hoped would be worthwhile. It - was - not.
I spent 10 minutes comparing the different shades at Sephora, and finally settled on Mood Light. Using my finger to apply the product on my hand and wrist, it was very pigmented. However, once I got it home and tried to apply it properly with a brush it was not nearly what I imagined it would be. The brush barely picked up any product, and I was using the Hourglass brush that is meant to be used with the powder. What the??? Then I put it on my face and, unsurprisingly at this point, I couldn't see a thing. Not even a faint sparkle. I repeat: What the???
I'm extremely fair skinned, so I thought maybe I was the issue. Everyone deserves a second chance, so I tried it on a client over the weekend and it didn't show up on her either. Ladies, never blame yourself when you are being mistreated by your products. With the second chance out of the way, I'm calling it quits on this relationship.
I may try a different shade of Ambient Lighting Powder, but for now I would not recommend the product.
